EMS programs carry a heavy load — broad content, tight timelines, and certification benchmarks that shape what gets taught and how. That structure produces capable providers. It also leaves gaps: the kind of deep clinical reasoning that doesn't fit neatly into a practice question.

I build from a different foundation. Every session at Outlier is designed to develop genuine clinical reasoning — the ability to look at a presentation, understand what the body is doing and why, and make sound decisions under pressure with incomplete information. That's what the field actually demands. That's what I teach.

That means spending time on pathophysiology, not just mnemonics. Working through cases that don't have clean answers. Asking why, not just what. And holding students to a standard that goes beyond the registry — because the patients you'll treat deserve a provider who was trained to think, not just trained to test.
